Pot measures approximately 6-1/2" tall, 6-1/2" wide and is 14" in circumference (around its widest point).
This beautiful style of Navajo art is called horse hair pottery because actual horse hair is added to the pottery at just the right moment in the firing process to melt the hairs into the pottery, creating unique and incredible designs. This Native American pot was hand etched, with traditional patterns along with a Bear Paw, by Navajo artist Connie Edsitty. The pottery is signed by the artist.
In Native American beliefs, the bear paw is usually considered a way to call for the power of the animal spirit, or as an indication of the presence of the spirit. It is a symbol that represents inner strength.
