DESCRIPTION:

Enjoy the amazing craftsmanship exhibited in this belt buckle! This piece of Native American jewelry is Hopi overlay hand crafted by artist George Phillips, out of genuine sterling silver. Overlay is a process that utilizes at least two layers of sterling silver. One layer forms the foundation, while the second is used to design the individual detailed overlay. In this belt buckle, the second layer forms an incredible Red Bearded Kachina design that gives the piece a lovely finish. The Red Bearded Kachina is one of the most favored Kachinas among the Hopis. They are appreciated because of the melodious songs and the beautiful dances that they do in the spring. The main purpose of the Angak’china is to bring rain to the people and their crops. Their long hair, which is worn loosely down the back, resembles the falling rain with the eagle breast plumes rising like clouds above it. These kachinas appear in the Niman Ceremony on First Mesa. The Tawa Angak’China has the same functions as the Angak’Cina, the only difference is the color of the beard. The belt buckle is stamped sterling and hallmarked.

    Gorgeous!

I have restarted a collection of American Indian jewelry, and this piece does not disappoint. It fits so comfortably that I do not feel it, yet it's substantial. I love the little details, down to the hammering in the band that catches light. It was worth every penny and then some!!!

    Made 4 Me

My Turquoise and Coral Navajo bead necklace is a personality piece. The beads are excellent and the customer support the same, excellent. I had questions all of which were answered and I also had a slight change in the clasp request which wasn't a problem to suit my needs. The necklace was shipped next day and I will not hesitate to order again from Native American Jewelry if I come across something else that catches my eye. I'm glad they are not near by as I might spend more if I could see it all in person. LOL Thank you to the sales team and designers for a real nice piece that sparks conversation.
