Outstanding Kachina packed with detail.
The detail and workmanship in this doll are absoluted amazing.

The Nataska or Ogre Kachina is part of the fearsome team that accompany the Soyoko when she terrorizes the children. He usually comes as a pair, standing behind the Soyoko when she bargains for the lives of the children. He would stomp his feet and drags his saw in order to intimidate the children. Stories states that he would seek children and snatch them home to eat them. Together with his dark clothing and broad face, the children are very petrified of him during the ceremonies. The feathered fan on his headdress is made of turkey feathers and is placed together to make him look even taller.

Lauren Honyouti and his brothers are among the best and most recognized carvers to date. Their style and carving skills are superior to most Kachina carvers. Lauren is a very popular carver. He is in almost all of the books about Hopi carvers. Lauren is classified as a highly skilled carver to collectors aswell as carvers. He was taught by his father Clyde Honyouti and his brothers Brian and Ronald.

During the past 2/3 years I have purchased earrings and recently an earring and bracelet matching set. I have given some as presents to my nieces who have been overjoyed to receive something a bit different. Quality and service excellent.

    Beginning of an Heirloom.

When she opened the box, I thought she would begin to cry as she teared up. She gave me a multicolored ring for my October birthday and I chose one for her as close as I could find in her size for Christmas. She loved it and we will treasure them! Thanks

Ordering is easy, the customer service rep. is such a nice young lady (THanks AMY) always willing to help at any time. The only issue i had was getting the order in time though, i'm positive it was the christmas holiday that delayed my order.

    Earrings and Pendant
Posted by KA Monk | Reviewing NativeAmericanJewelry.com | Posted on
I purchased a pair of earrings and pendant for a co-worker whose is of Navajo and Hopi descent. The items were beautiful and she was overwhelmed by the fact that they were Native American items. She said, "They are Navajo!" Great!
