DESCRIPTION:
This magnificent and traditional belt buckle represents the finest of Hopi craftsmanship! This piece of Native American jewelry is Hopi overlay hand crafted by artist George Phillips out of genuine sterling silver. Overlay is a process that utilizes at least two layers of sterling silver. One layer forms the foundation, while the second is used to design the individual detailed overlay. In this belt buckle, the second layer forms a beautiful Hummingbird, Sun, and flower designs that gives the piece an elegant finish. In Native American beliefs, the sun is the provider of life, warmth, growth, and all that is good. Hummingbirds are mainly known to be defenders of their territory. Many times stronger than their small size would indicate. The belt buckle is stamped sterling and hallmarked.
