DESCRIPTION:
This is a very exquisite pendant that must not be overlooked! This piece of Native American jewelry is Hopi overlay hand crafted by artist George Phillips out of genuine sterling silver. Overlay is a process that utilizes at least two layers of sterling silver. One layer forms the foundation, while the second layer is used to design the individual detailed overlay. In this pendant, the second layer forms a marvelous Mudhead Kachina, Prayer Sticks, and Arrow designs for an oustanding look. The Koyemsi or Mud Head is the most popular kachina among the Hopi people because they appear in all of the ceremonies. He usually accompanys most kachinas during the ceremonies, and they come as clowns, announcers of dances, drummers and singers. The Koyemsi is usually the one who play games, like guessing games and balancing acts, with the children in the audience. Arrows usually signify direction of travel, force, and movement. The pendant is stamped sterling and hallmarked.
