DESCRIPTION:

The beautiful features in this belt buckle will make you appreciate Native American art! This piece of Native American jewelry is Hopi overlay hand crafted by artist George Phillips, out of genuine sterling silver. Overlay is a process that utilizes at least two layers of sterling silver. One layer forms the foundation, while the second is used to design the individual detailed overlay. In this belt buckle, the second layer forms an amazing Red Bearded Kachina design that gives the piece a gorgeous finish. The Red Bearded Kachina is one of the most favored Kachinas among the Hopis. They are appreciated because of the melodious songs and the beautiful dances that they do in the spring. The main purpose of the Angak’china is to bring rain to the people and their crops. Their long hair, which is worn loosely down the back, resembles the falling rain with the eagle breast plumes rising like clouds above it. These kachinas appear in the Niman Ceremony on First Mesa. The Tawa Angak’China has the same functions as the Angak’Cina, the only difference is the color of the beard. The belt buckle is stamped sterling and hallmarked.

    Walking in beauty!
Posted by Deborah M. | Reviewing NativeAmericanJewelry.com | Posted on
I absolutely love the beautiful jewelry that you offer! The whole experience from ordering, to shipping, was so very easy. The only difficulty was choosing from your entire selection! The quality and artistry in each item is top quality. I am so pleased with my turquoise and coral ring of Effie Calavaza, also my bear claw earrings! The prices were very reasonable as well. My late mother, as do I, always admired Native American culture and I got my love for silver and turquoise from her. The Irish have known troubles much as the Native People of this country and she found many similarities between the two. Both the mystical and spiritual qualities are possessed by each culture. I will definitely be buying from you again! Thank you! Deborah Miller
