Sterling Silver is a metal, which consists of 92.5 percent silver and 7.5 percent copper. Although any metal can make up the 7.5% of non-silver component, years of study have shown that copper is most compatible, while aiding the solidity and durability of the metal without harming its beautiful color. The small amount of 7.5% copper added to all silver has almost no effect on the metals overall value.
