This beautiful style of Navajo art is called horse hair pottery because actual horse hair is added to the pottery at just the right moment in the firing process to melt the hairs into the pottery, creating stunning and intricate designs. This unique Native American pot was hand etched and painted with traditional patterns and a gorgeous eagle design by Navajo artist Carol Johnson. In Native American beliefs, the eagle is the master of the sky; he is considered to be a carrier of prayers. Many of the Indian Nations admire the eagle for bravery and special connections to the creator. The pot is signed by the artist.
