Miniature Kachina is approximately 4-1/4" tall including a 1-7/8" base and is 2-3/4" wide at widest points.

A form of religious folk art attributed mostly to the Hopi. The dolls are wooden images, which represent the men who dance in costume, mask and paint as kachina spirits in Hopi villages from 21st December (winter solstice) through the third week in July. Kachinas represent the supernatural, the spirit or essence of animate and inanimate objects in nature who benefit the Hopi by bringing rain for a successful planting, fertility for animals and man, cures for illnesses, justice for lawbreakers, and humor for appropriate circumstances. Authentic dolls are carved from the root of the cottonwood tree only after it has broken away.

The mother crow is known for watching over the children as they play.

This Miniature Kachina doll was hand crafted by Navajo artist Maxine Chee. Miniature Kachina dolls will vary slightly.

    Walking in beauty!
Posted by Deborah M. | Reviewing NativeAmericanJewelry.com | Posted on
I absolutely love the beautiful jewelry that you offer! The whole experience from ordering, to shipping, was so very easy. The only difficulty was choosing from your entire selection! The quality and artistry in each item is top quality. I am so pleased with my turquoise and coral ring of Effie Calavaza, also my bear claw earrings! The prices were very reasonable as well. My late mother, as do I, always admired Native American culture and I got my love for silver and turquoise from her. The Irish have known troubles much as the Native People of this country and she found many similarities between the two. Both the mystical and spiritual qualities are possessed by each culture. I will definitely be buying from you again! Thank you! Deborah Miller
