This detailed style of Navajo art is called horse hair pottery because actual horse hair is added to the pottery at just the right moment in the firing process to melt the hairs into the pottery, creating beautiful and original designs. This stunning Native American pot was hand etched and painted with traditional patterns and a gorgeous bear design by Navajo artist Carol Johnson. In Native American beliefs, the bear symbolizes physical strength, leadership, and is known as the "first helper". The pot is signed by the artist.
