Pot measures approximately 5-1/2" tall, 4" wide and is 13-1/2" in circumference (around its widest point).
This beautiful style of Navajo art is called horse hair pottery because actual horse hair is added to the pottery at just the right moment in the firing process to melt the hairs into the pottery, creating stunning and unique designs. This magnificent Native American Pot is hand etched and hand painted, by Navajo artist T. Whitegoat, with a marvelous turtle design and traditional patterns. The pot is signed Navajo and by the artist.
In Native American beliefs, the turtle represents strength, female power, and fertility. The turtle is also considered to be able to defy death.
