Pot measures approximately 12" tall, 7" wide and is 23-5/8" in circumference (around its widest point).
This beautiful style of Navajo art is called horse hair pottery because actual horse hair is added to the pottery at just the right moment in the firing process to melt the hairs into the pottery, creating stunning and unique designs. This Native American pot is hand etched and hand painted, by Navajo artist Marilena Sam, with charming traditional patterns and gorgeous designs that include: Deer, Hummingbird, and Sun. In Native American beliefs, the sun is the provider of life, warmth, growth, and all that is good. Hummingbirds are mainly known to be defenders of their territory. Many times stronger than their small size would indicate. The pot is signed Navajo and by the artist.
