Woody Sewemaenewa showed the talent required to be a great Kachina carver at a very early age. Since he was to young to be initiated as a carver, he would sneak into his father's shed and carve in secret. One day when his kachinas were discovered, everyone in his family knew that Woody had the gift to become a carver. Then, he was guided and initiated properly by his father. Now, Woody's work is known and recognized due to his hard work and artistic ability. Woody loves to constantly carve kachinas and his passion is seen in the different styles of kachinas that he makes. He was born on November 27, 1969 in Keams Canyon, Arizona. Woody belongs to the Greasewood Clan.
