DESCRIPTION:

There is nothing at all average about this wonderful Kokopelli belt buckle! This piece of Native American jewelry is Hopi overlay hand made by artist George Phillips, out of genuine sterling silver. Overlay is a process that utilizes at least two layers of sterling silver. One layer forms the foundation, while the second is used to design the individual detailed overlay. In this belt buckle, the second layer forms a stunning design that depicts TWO stunning Kokopelli figures on either side of a stalk of Corn that gives the piece a beautiful finish. The Kokopelli is a common fertility symbol throughout the Southwest. In Native American beliefs the kokopelli visits various communities, seducing and impregnating the young women drawn to the tones of his flute playing. Corn The corn is a powerful symbol in many tribes. It is used for prayer of fertility and a good growing season. Belt buckle is stamped sterling and hallmarked.

I saw a very similar bracelet in a shop in Santa Fe, NM but it was much too pricey for me. I thought I would never have such a beautiful piece of Navajo history and culture. I came home from my vacation, found this website and ordered this lovely bracelet

I looked over the selection many times before deciding on my selection. i was concerned about the ring looking as it did in the photo and the size being true. i was pleasantly surprised on both accounts, the ring looked much better in real life.
