This piece of Native American jewelry is Hopi overlay hand crafted by artist George Phillips out of genuine sterling silver. Overlay is a process that utilizes at least two layers of sterling silver. One layer forms the foundation, while the second layer is used to design the individual detailed overlay. In this money clip, the second layer forms a magnificent Kokopelli and Corn stalk designs for a magnificent look. The Kokopelli is a common fertility symbol throughout the Southwest. In Native American beliefs, the Kokopelli visits various communities, seducing and impregnating the young women drawn to the tones of his flute playing. The corn is a powerful symbol in many tribes. It is used for prayer of fertility and a good growing season. The lower portion of the money clip is made out of nickel for stronger grip and durability! Money clip is stamped sterling and hallmarked.
