DESCRIPTION:
This magnificent and traditional belt buckle represents the finest of Hopi craftsmanship! This piece of Native American jewelry is Hopi overlay hand crafted by artist George Phillips out of genuine sterling silver. Overlay is a process that utilizes at least two layers of sterling silver. One layer forms the foundation, while the second is used to design the individual detailed overlay. In this belt buckle, the second layer forms a marvelous Bear, Bear Paw, and Prayer Sticks designs that gives the piece an amazing look. In Native American beliefs, the bear symbolizes physical strength, leadership, and is known as the "first helper". The bear paw is usually considered a way to call for the power of the animal spirit, or as an indication of the presence of the spirit. It is a symbol that represents inner strength. Belt buckle is stamped sterling and hallmarked.
